MOVING UNIVERSITY

EARN YOUR EDUACTION IN MOVING

At JERSEY MOVING PRO we are all about educating  our customers on how the moving industry operates. This is not something you as a customer do every day.... but it is something we do ALL DAY,  EVERYDAY. We want to make sure you fully understand the process throughout the entire experience.

Let's get started..

Licensed & Insured

Professional Movers

When choosing a moving company, you want to make sure that they have the proper licensing:

• US Department of Transportation

•  NJ Division of Consumer Affairs

• Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

In addition, the company should have a comprehensive insurance plan to cover any accidents happening on a job site as well as any property damage.

A very important aspect of choosing a moving company is  insuring that all crew members servicing your move are 100% dedicated movers. What does this mean? Movers should be trained in the art and science of packing, wrapping, stacking and transporting your inventory to guarantee a successful move.  If a moving company is estimating a very low cost for your move, there is a strong chance that the movers are not professionally trained as movers.  Moving is not as simple as picking up and putting down. Physical strength does not necessarily translate into care, proficiency and the attention to detail required by your belongings.

Local MOves

Long Distance moves

Local moves are defined as being less then 65 miles from existing home to new home. The estimate is formed as follows; Inventory will be taken by our In-Home Estimator or you may chose to do Inventory over the phone with a Relocation specialist. Once Inventory in assessed and any special packing is determined, the estimator will be able to provide an estimate to include the number of trucks/men needed and the amount of time it would take to complete the move from start to finish.

On move day, you will sign off at the start of the move and sign off upon completion. Customers are charged in 15 minute increment's of the hourly rate until the job is done.

A local hourly rate move can always be estimated as a flat rate move upon customer request. (See flat rate move for more information)

Long Distance moves

Long Distance Moves are defined by Inventory transported via semi-tractor trailer. The estimate is formed as follows; Inventory will be taken by our In-Home Estimator or you may chose to do Inventory over the phone with a Relocation Specialist. Once Inventory in assessed and any special packing is determined, the estimator will be able to provide an estimate based on the number of cubic feet (cf) required to be moved. CF is the amount of space a customers inventory takes up in the semi-tractor trailer.

Flat Rate Move

Flat Rate move is defined beyond 65 miles but does not require the use of a semi-tractor trailer.  The estimate is formed as follows; Inventory will be taken by our In-Home Estimator or you may chose to do Inventory over the phone with a Relocation Specialist. Once Inventory in assessed and any special packing is determined, the estimator will be able to provide an estimate which is a flat rate based on the inventory assessed. This locked in rate is only subject to change if inventory does not match the original estimate come move day.

A licensed moving company is required by law to offer valuation for any damage, breakage or loss of inventory. A mover with a New Jersey license is required to offer to all local moves $1.00 per pound per article. If you are doing a long distance move and are required to be transported in the semi-tractor trailer, reimbursement for any loss, breakage or damage is $.60 per pound per article.

If you would like additional insurance your moving company should be able to offer additional coverage or you may consult a company that specializes in moving insurance such as Baker International. If you are a homeowner your policy may include transit insurance which would cover and claims beyond the valuation offered by the moving company.
